Mike Aubrey on ὑδροποτρέω

Back in April I posted a recommendation for hearing Mike Aubrey’s SBL paper on ὑδροποτρέω, a word that appears only once in the New Testament, but is well attested in the broader Hellenistic literature. I heard the paper yesterday, and as I anticipated, it was thought provoking and well researched. In addition to clarifying the meaning of ὑδροποτρέω, Dr. Aubrey demonstrated an approach to the semantics of compound words that has implications for many other words in the early Christian corpus. It was a pleasure to hear.

What do you think? Other readers and I would love to hear from you.
